Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar faced the wrath of Indian fans after he tried to mock India and Sachin Tendulkar ahead of the much-anticipated India-Pakistan clash at the 2023 World Cup. As the arch-rivals take each other at the world’s largest stadium in Ahmedabad, Akhtar asked Pakistani fans to keep their calm and shared a picture of him celebrating after dismissing Tendulkar in a Test match.
This angered the Indian fans who were quick to remind Akhtar about how Tendulkar and India have hammered him and his team respectively over the past years. While some shared pictures of Tendulkar hitting Akhtar for a six over point region, a few fans shared Virat Kohli celebrating after India’s famous win over Pakistan at the 2022 T20 World Cup.
A few fans also reminded Shoaib Akhtar how Indian captain Rohit Sharma took Pakistan bowlers to the cleaners when the two teams last met in an ODI World Cup game. Meanwhile, a fan reminded Akhtar how Pakistan where thrashed at the recently concluded Asia Cup. Check out the different sets of reactions to Akhtar’s post below.
Munaf Patel also takes jibe at Shoaib Akhtar
Along with fans, former India pacer Munaf Patel also took a jibe at Shoaib Akhtar as the 2011 World Cup winner reminded the Pakistani pacer how Sachin Tendulkar thrashed him left, right, and center at the 2003 World Cup.
“Yaad dilao kya #WorldCup 2003 #INDvsPAK,” wrote Patel while sharing a picture from the match.
While Akhtar got too many responses for his post, the Pakistani pacer did not write anything afterward. However, he did share his prediction for the game. Akhtar claimed that Pakistan captain Babar Azam will score big.
Speaking of which, Pakistan lost both their openers before the 13th over. While Mohammed Siraj removed Abdullah Shafique, trapping him LBW, Hardik Pandya got Imam-Ul-Haq caught behind the wicket. Nevertheless, Babar Azam is still there out in the middle, hoping to propel Pakistan to a big total.
