Before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rohit Sharma suggested the Indian players take breaks to keep themselves fresh ahead of the all-important World Test Championship (WTC) Final. During the ongoing IPL season, Rohit was seen struggling with the bat and played a decent innings only once in a while.

Rohit’s sluggish form led to the legendary Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar urging the MI skipper to take breaks if he wants to. But MI head coach Mark Boucher doesn’t want that. In a press conference ahead of MI’s next match on Sunday, Boucher said though it’s not his call to decide whether Rohit should take a break or not, the 35-year-old hasn’t approached him for the matter yet.

No, I don’t think he should take rest. That’s not my call to make. Obviously, we want Rohit playing, because he’s a very good player, and a leader as well,” Boucher said ahead of MI’s clash against Rajasthan Royals.

If it is the best for, and he comes up to me and says ‘you know, I need a bit of a break’ then yes, we will address that, and I will consider that. He hasn’t done that. So yes at the moment, if he is available to play, he will play,” Boucher added.
