MS Dhoni who is hailed as ‘Captain Cool,’ ironically lost his cool in an IPL match against the Rajasthan Royals in 2019. With 8 needed off the last three balls, Mitchell Santner walked in to face a no-ball chaos. The delivery bowled by Ben Stokes was initially signaled as a no-ball by the umpire but was revoked by the square leg umpire. Virender Sehwag believes Dhoni should’ve been banned for his actions during this incident.

Miffed with the umpire’s decision, the Chennai Super Kings skipper stormed into the field and started arguing with the umpires about the no-ball confusion, pointing out that the on-field umpire took his hand out to signal a no-ball.

Bowler Ben Stokes, RR skipper Ajinkya Rahane and CSK batters Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner were also a part of the argument scene. Although things were settled at that moment, the incident is still talked about considering how MS Dhoni lost his cool.

The match between CSK and RR was down to the wire and with a no-ball being overturned at a crucial time in the match, MS Dhoni marched into the field in anger. He was severely criticized for his actions by various members of the cricket fraternity, one of who was also Virender Sehwag.

Talking to Cricbuzz in 2019, Sehwag said, “I feel Dhoni was let off easy and should have been banned for at least two-three games. Because if he did this, tomorrow another captain can do the same. Then what is the value of an umpire?”

CSK went on to win the match after Mitchell Santner struck a six on the final ball of the match to seal the game. MS Dhoni scored a fifty in the match and was also named Player of the Match but was fined 50% of his match fees as a sanction. CSK lost the final to MI in the 2019 season handing them their 4th IPL trophy.
