India batter Shubman Gill was taken by surprise when an OUT sign appeared on the big screen after multiple replays during India’s second innings in the WTC Final. Gill could not believe that Third Umpire Richard Kettleborough had declared Cameron Green’s catch fair and adjudged him caught out. The batter took a heavy walk back to the pavilion in disdain.
It was hard for everyone- from fans to experts- to fathom that Gill was adjudged caught out despite the replays showing that the ball might have brushed the grass. Nevertheless, it was a wicket for Australia and a big loss for India as many hopes relied on the opening partnership between Gill and Rohit Sharma.
While the match moved on, Gill’s controversial dismissal became a talking point. The batter too reacted to this decision from the TV Umpire after Day 4’s play ended. Gill shared separate posts on Instagram and Twitter. While in one post he applauded Green’s outstanding effort, Gill took a dig at the umpire in another post. The caption of the post on Twitter suggested that Gill wanted to say “Why did the umpire not zoom in?”
Virat Kohli too reacts!

Not just Shubman Gill but his teammates too were taken aback by this controversial decision. While captain Rohit Sharma was seen screaming when the OUT sign appeared on the big screen, Virat Kohli shared a quote on his Instagram. The 34-year-old shared a quote which talked about letting things go.
“If we have too many worries, fears, and doubts, we don’t have any room for living and loving. We need to practice letting go,” read the quote shared by Kohli. While it can’t be confirmed that this story from Virat Kohli was aimed at the controversial decision, it might be for the fans and Gill who seem to be worried about the end result.
