India’s opening batter Shubman Gill is going through a slump on this tour to the West Indies as the batter is struggling to put up runs consistently. While Gill did score some runs on ODIs, he has been an outright failure in T20Is. In the three innings played, Gill has managed only 16 runs and this clearly has irked the Indian fans.
As Shubman Gill was dismissed for an 11-ball 6 in the third T20I against the West Indies, fans lost their cool, bashing the young batter for not living up to the reputation.
Shubman Gill looked uncomfortable as he came to open the innings for India with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Eventually, he was dismissed while Gill tried to pull Alzarri Joseph. The batter could not time his shot at all and got a leading edge which went right into the hands of the mid-wicket fielder.
Fans left unhappy with Shubman Gill failing to contribute
After Shubman Gill was dismissed cheaply yet again, Indian cricket fans started bashing the batter. A few could not fathom how a batter who was scoring centuries after centuries in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is failing to even reach double-digits. Meanwhile, a few sounded frustrated with Gill’s outright failures.
While Shubman Gill failed to impress, Suryakumar Yadav did not. The World No.1 T20I batter came all guns blazing against the West Indies bowlers and scored a brisk half-century off just 23 balls. The swashbuckling batter has kept India alive in the chase and in the series.
