India batting stalwart Virat Kohli put up an Instagram story after the team lost to Australia in the World Test Championship Final on Sunday. The Rohit Sharma-led team was thrashed by a massive 209 runs in the summit clash of the two-year-long tournament. This defeat caused an uproar among the fans as questions were raised about Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
Amid all this, Kohli putting up a quote about silence and strength is being seen as a dig at Rohit Sharma who replaced the former as the Test captain. Notably, Kohli stepped down from Test captaincy in January 2022 after he was sacked from ODI captaincy at the end of 2021. Sharma then succeeded Kohli at the helm.
The 35-year-old did a decent job, guiding India to their second successive WTC Final. However, Rohit failed to break India’s ICC knockout jinx as the team lost to Australia on Sunday. Now, Kohli has put up a quote which reads, “Silence is the source of great strength”. This has sparked a debate about whether it is aimed at Rohit.

With Kohli putting up another quote on his Instagram story, fans felt it would have been better for the batter to perform on the field rather than putting up quotes on social media. A few also found this behaviour from Kohli a bit childish.
Check out the reactions.
While Kohli has surely put doubt in everyone’s head with his stories, it would be interesting to see how the Test team shapes from hereon. Kohli, Rohit, and Cheteshwar Pujara‘s future in Test cricket hang by a thread. Fans are demanding these senior players are sacked and fresh blood are given a chance.
