“When will we win against competitive sides?”- Twitter fans slam India Women as they register first defeat against England
India's next assignment will be against Ireland on February 20. England will lock horns with Pakistan on February 21.

IND-W vs ENG-W
India under Harmanpreet Kaur registered their first defeat when England beat him by 11 runs on Saturday (February 18) at the St George’s Oval in Port Elizabeth.
Chasing a target of 152 Smriti Mandhana and Shafali gave a quick start, but soon the latter was sent to the pavilion by Lauren Bell in the fourth over. India kept losing wickets at regular intervals with Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur departing for cheap scores.
But Mandhana from one end kept India in the game and later, she was joined by Richa Ghosh. Mandhana, with the help of six and seven boundaries, scored 52 runs off 41 balls, before Sarah Glenn dismissed the big fish in the 16th over, with Natalie Sciver pouching a sitter.
Her departure did not stop Ghosh as she kept playing her shots. She smashed four boundaries and two sixes at a strike rate of 138.24 to score an unbeaten 47 runs from 34 balls. It was not enough for her team as India could score 140 runs for the loss of five wickets, losing their first match in the ongoing 2022 Women’s T20 World Cup.

Earlier, Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and elected to field first. Courtesy of Renuka Singh, England lost three quick wickets before the powerplay. But Natalie Sciver and Amy Jones helped the team to recover from the wreck and posted a commanding total of 151/7 in their 20 overs. Sciver completed her half-century, while Jones played a quick knock of 40 runs from 27 balls.
Renuka Singh would later pick two more wickets to become the first Indian to register a five-wicket haul in the Women’s T20 World Cup. Renuka, in her full quota of overs, conceded 15 runs at an economy of 3.75.
Previously, India defeated Pakistan in their campaign opener and defeated West Indies as well. In Group B, they are behind England, who are at the top after winning all three matches. The Women in Blue’s next assignment will be against Ireland on February 20. England will lock horns with Pakistan on February 21.
