England’s spinner Sophie Ecclestone pulled off a stunning catch in the 1st Ashes ODI, leaving everyone, including herself, spellbound. Ecclestone leaped in the air to get rid of Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield who was batting at 34 off 35 deliveries.

Ecclestone’s exceptional effort left the Bristol crowd in awe and helped England pick up their second wicket of the day off Natalie Sciver’s bowling. She timed her jump to perfection to pluck the ball mid-air after the batter had attempted to clear the in-field. The video of her fielding masterclass went viral and gained massive appreciation from fans.

Sophie Ecclestone has been an exceptional bowler for England as she has picked up 102 wickets in 73 T20Is, 87 wickets in 55 ODIs, and 27 wickets in 6 Tests for her country. She is also a part of the Women’s Premier League, as a member of the UP Warriorz.

Sophie Ecclestone’s fielding effort was nothing short of phenomenal as she leaped to pluck a one-handed blinder mid-air. All her teammates assembled to celebrate the catch with her. She herself could not believe what she had pulled off.

Meanwhile, fans on Twitter were left spellbound by the effort as well. One of them tweeted saying, “That is a remarkable catch because it was timed so well hence the ball was traveling, the timing of the jump and then to grab it with one hand makes it so special.”

One of the fans even compared her to the Indian men’s team’s gun all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja by saying Ecclestone is the Ravindra Jadeja of women’s cricket. Sophie Ecclestone’s effort received immense positive recognition from fans around the world.
