David Miller was adjudged the Man of the Match in first qualifier of IPL 2022 as his 38 ball 68 helped Gujarat Titans beat his former team Rajasthan Royals. After Amassing a par total of 188 thanks to Jos Buttler’s exploits in the end, Rajasthan seemed confident about their chances to win. However, Miller had different plans.

In the 20th over of the second innings, Gujarat needed 16 off the last 6 balls and it was Prasidh Krishna bowling the final over. Everything seems to be in Rajasthan’s hands as they were content to defend 16 runs. However, David Miller hoiked the first 3 deliveries for Sixes to win his team the match. He later took to Twitter to apologise to his former team, Rajasthan Royals.

Rajasthan Royals dropped David Miller for Hetmyer this season

David Miller was dropped by Rajasthan Royals in this year’s auction as they opted for a younger Shimron Hetmyer to be their big hitter batsman. However, while Hetmyer has been exceptional for the Royals, he couldn’t perform for Rajasthan last night. On the other hand, David Miller took the opportunity to see his side through to the finals of IPL 2022.

David Miller’s apology was a sign of pure sportsmanship and respect to his former team. The 32 year old South African has earlier played for Punjab Kings as well where he made a name for himself as commentators called him ‘Killer Miller’. Miller also holds the record of scoring one of the fastest IPL centuries off just 38 balls. While over time his performances took a dip, this season Miller has regained his prowess and been a superb asset for the Gujarat Titans.
