Former India captain Sourav Ganguly credits India’s strong performance in international cricket to domestic cricket and not the Indian Premier League (IPL). Ganguly compared the World Cup campaigns of India and Pakistan, implying that Pakistan’s ordinary performance wasn’t due to the lack of playing in the Indian league.

Speaking on A Sports, Ganguly stated that players should be like former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram who could bowl long spells and could bowl fast with new and old balls. The former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president credited the infrastructure of India and the use of money in the right direction behind India’s strong performance.

The IPL is not the sole reason for India's success in international cricket. Quality cannot come from playing only the IPL, quality comes from playing 4-day, 5-day cricket. If you play more T20 cricket, you will remain mediocre. I always say that you play T20s, make money from T20s and if you want to be a player, you have to play 4-day, 5-day cricket.
Ganguly said on A sport.

He feels if Pakistan makes some specific changes, they can properly use talents like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, and Imam-Ul-Haq. The Men in Green got knocked out of the World Cup after registering five defeats from nine matches and failing to secure themselves a spot in the semifinals. India, on the other hand, have won eight group-stage matches on the trot.

Ganguly said if Moin colored his hair, then it would look good on him. The 51-year-old cited his own example while giving the suggestion.

Ganguly also said that it’s a good thing that Wasim Akram is at home and spending time with his family. The ex-BCCI joked that he thinks Akram always wears roller skates under his feet because he keeps traveling.
