“I made Rohit Sharma the Indian captain,” Sourav Ganguly lauds Indian skipper after GRAND Test success against England
Ganguly backed Sharma as India's leader. He also revealed that he made Sharma the captain after Kohli's resignation.

Former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly, was in all praise of Indian captain Rohit Sharma. On several occasions, Ganguly admitted that he wanted Sharma to become an all-format captain of the Indian team.
India played the World Test Championship (WTC) final under Sharma and the 2023 ODI World Cup final as well. Though India couldn’t win the ICC events, they won the bilateral series against England on home soil.
The current England team plays Bazball and since its introduction in 2022, they never lost a Test series until Rohit Sharma and company thumped them 3-1. Sharma is leading a team full of youngsters, winning the series despite the absence of the veterans of the game like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Mohammed Shami.
After this grand success, Ganguly backed Sharma as India’s leader. He also revealed that he made Sharma the captain after Kohli’s resignation.

The BCCI has now mandated domestic cricket participation for all players. As Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan did not listen to BCCI’s warnings, they were snubbed from the annual contract list for 2023-24.
1983 World Cup winner, Kirti Azad observed that the new rule should apply not just to Kishan and Iyer but to every Indian player, including the two senior members of the team, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
But whenever you are free, even if you're a Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli, you should go back and play domestic cricket for the state.Azad told PTI
Kohli took an indefinite break which BCCI secretary Jay Shah supported. Sharma is leading the team in the Test series against England. The fifth Test is on March 7.
