The cricketing boards of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have reportedly supported the Board of Control for Cricket in India‘s (BCCI) decision to host the 2023 Asia Cup tournament outside Pakistan. The two boards have also shown interest in hosting the continental cup if is moved out of Pakistan, according to a report by GEO News.
The BCCI has refused to send their players to India and wanted the tournament to be held at a neutral venue. Pakistan have already threatened to pull themselves out of the elite tournament if they are not given the hosting rights. In such a case, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) can include UAE in place of Pakistan. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has made the board’s decision clear that Pakistan won’t send their men to play in the 2023 ODI World Cup if India don’t send their men to Pakistan for the Asia Cup
“In case of India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan to complete in the Asia Cup, chances are there that the Pakistan government would not allow the Men in Green to cross the borders for their World Cup participation. In that case, cricket will be the ultimate sufferer,” Sethi had reportedly told reporters.
“There should be a middle way to solve problems that surely threaten the smooth hosting of ICC and ACC events. In case of India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, the government will now allow us to travel to India to figure in the World Cup matches,” he added.

PCB seeks BCCI’s “written guarantee” on India’s 2025 Champions Trophy participation
BCCI has rejected the hybrid model of Pakistan which stated that Pakistan will host the matches but India’s ones will be held at a neutral venue, in UAE. The Pakistan Cricket Board has reportedly asked the BCCI for a “written guarantee” which says that Pakistan will not play its World Cup matches in India unless the BCCI and ICC give written guarantees that India will come to Pakistan to play in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
The ACC is all set to take a final stance on this conflict during another meeting between Najam Sethi and Jay Shah. Asia Cup is set to start in September, while the ODI World Cup will be held from October 5.
