Sri Lanka vs the Netherlands Prediction: Who will win today’s T20 World Cup 2022 match?
Sri Lanka vs the Netherlands Prediction
Asian champions Sri Lanka will face the Netherlands in a must-win game on Thursday [October 20] at Kardinia Park in Geelong. After a humiliating loss against underdogs Namibia, Dasun Shanaka’s Lankans resurrected their campaign by defeating UAE by 79 runs. They’re looking hungry to confirm their spot in the Super 12. The two teams will also be playing their last games in Group A.
Meanwhile, Scott Edwards-led Netherlands will be eyeing to qualify for the Super 12 stage after beating the Island nation. They are having an excellent tournament so far, as they won both of their previous group matches by defeating Namibia and UAE.
If the Netherlands lose this game and Namibia defeat UAE, then the former will be eliminated from the tournament because of their lowest net run rate. If Sri Lanka win this match, they’ll reach the Super 12 as their net run rate is far better than the Netherlands.
But they haven’t outclassed the Lankans before. Sri Lanka have won both of their previous T20Is against the Dutch side. Sri Lanka are currently placed third in the group with two points, while the Netherlands top the points table.
T20 World Cup 2022: Sri Lanka vs the Netherlands Prediction
The Netherlands, in their previous match, defeated Namibia by five wickets. For the Dutch side, Jan Frylinck and Bas de Leede will be the key players. Frylinck was the top scorer with a slow knock of 43 runs, while de Leede scalped two wickets and scored 30 runs.
Spinner Wanindu Hasaranga will be Sri Lanka’s key bowler, as his three-wicket haul in the previous match against UAE ensured their win. Opener Pathum Nissanka was also the high scorer for his team with a 76-run knock. However, the island nations will be without the services of right-arm speedster Dhushmantha Chameera. He was ruled out of the tournament after sustaining a calf injury.
