Following stampede incident, Hyderabad police files case against Hyderabad Cricket Association for cheating, black marketing

Following the stampede incident at the Gymkhana Ground on Thursday, September 22, Hyderabad police have filed case against Hyderabad Crikcet Association on Friday. Section 420, 337, and 21/76 of the City Police Act have been imposed to book the case.
A large number of fans had flocked around to get their hands on the tickets for the third T20I between India and Australia, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Fans accused that online selling of tickets was stopped only after 10 minutes to they had no choice but to swarm at the ground to buy them offline. The situation at the ground had gone out of control and police had to lathi-charge to restore law and order.

Police said they have proof of black marketing

Begumpet police registered a case against the Hyderabad Cricket Association under sections 420 (cheating) and 337 (causing hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others) of the India Penal Code. The injured people alleged cheating, negligence, mismanagement, and black marketing.
“There were 3000 tickets available for offline sale. We have booked 420 IPC because we have proof of black marketing,” a police official said.
HCA, meanwhile said that tickets for Sunday’s match have been sold out: “You can only collect your physical tickets from the Gymkhana ground between 10 am and 5 pm from September 23 to 25.”
“Ensure you collect your physical tickets by showing the email confirmation received during online purchase, valid government-approved ID proof and submitting a photocopy of the same. In case you are collecting on someone else’s behalf an authority letter clearly stating the same with the photocopy of both the ID proofs will be mandatory,” it added.
