On 29th of March, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hosted rivals Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the 10th match of the 2024 IPL. The match did end in a loss for RCB, but something occurred in the 16th over that took the spotlight.
During the strategic timeout after the 16th over, Gautam Gambhir stepped onto the field to talk to his players. And during that time, the KKR mentor met up with Virat Kohli and they hugged. They chatted for sometime, before departing for the dugout.
When the two hugged it out, commentators Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar started joking about it. Shastri joked that KKR needed to be awarded the fair-play award for the hug, but Gavaskar believed that wouldn’t be enough.
