On 27th March, Sunrisers Hyderabad created history as they smacked Mumbai Indians for 277 runs in the first innings. The innings saw incredible power hitting from the SRH batters, with a grand total of 18 sixes.
The assault on the MI bowlers began from ball one, when Mayank Agarwal targeted 17-year old Kwena Maphaka in the first over. The youngster finished his spell with the figures on 0/66. Travis Head hit the fastest 50 by a SRH batter, taking 18 balls, but Abhishek Sharma broke his record taking only 16 deliveries.
After the first three wickets fell, Heinrich Klassen and Aiden Markram stiched a partnership of 100 runs as they got their score to 277. Klassen also took just 23 deliveries to reach his fifty, while Markram scored 42 runs. Jasprit Bumrah had the lowest economy rate, of just 9 rpo.
This is the highest score in the history of the IPL. The record was earlier held by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who scored 263 against Pune Warriors India in 2013.
Fans in awe of SRH’s explosive show
Some fans called out Hardik Pandya for this for his captaincy and said it’s the most happiest day for Rohit Sharma fans. As expected, the other fans mocked RCB, saying that they won’t feel proud of the only best record they created.
