Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Suresh Raina is likely to bid adieu to the Indian Premier League (IPL) and domestic cricket. The southpaw can play in the T20 leagues in South Africa, Sri Lanka and UAE. He will also not play for Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming domestic season.

“I want to continue playing cricket for two or three years. There are some exciting youngsters who are coming through the ranks of Uttar Pradesh cricket. I have already teaken by No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA). I have informed BCCI secretary Jay Shah and vice-president Rajiv Shukla about my decision,” Raina was quoted as saying by Dainik Jagran.

Raina then stated that he though will play in the Road Safety Series and that despite getting calls from South Africa, Sri Lanka and UAE, he is yet to take any decision.

I will play in the Road Safety Series. T20 franchises from South Africa, Sri Lanka and UAE have contacted me but I am yet to take any decision,” said Raina.

Raina had represented India in 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20Is in a career spanning 13 years. He had ammassed 5615 runs from 226 ODIs and 1605 runs from 78 T20Is. He is also the first Indian to score a ton in all three formats of the sport, with all his centuries scored outside India.

Suresh Raina had announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020, minutes after MS Dhoni decided to announce the same decision. He was also part of the 2011 World Cup winning team led by Dhoni.

Earlier this year, he went unsold to the shock of many, even CSK franchise didn’t signed him. He was part of CSK for 12 years and is the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL history. In 205 games, the Mr. IPL had scored 5,528 runs. For CSK, he has scored 4,687 runs.
