Team India defeated West Indies in the third T20I of the five-match series on Tuesday (8 August) to keep their hopes for a series win alive. Suryakumar Yadav was the man for India as the swashbuckling batter scored a 44-ball 83 to belittle the 160-run target. Not just Suryakumar Yadav but Tilak Varma also played a crucial role, scoring 49*.

The Mumbai Indians batters formed an 87-run partnership for the third wicket and kept West Indies bowlers at bay. While Suryakumar took the aggressive route, Varma nonchalantly rotated the strike and did not let pressure mount on his partner. Eventually, India won the match by six wickets and Suryakumar was named Player of the Match.

The World No.1 T20I batter hailed his young batting partner for his mature knock. “We (himself and Tilak) have batted together for a long time, we both understand how each other bats and the way he batted, it gave me a lot of confidence. It was a great innings from him (Tilak) at the other end,” said Surya at the post-match presentation (via Cricbuzz). Meanwhile, Tilak Varma was in awe of the shots Surya played on the sluggish Guyana wicket.

As the two batters got together for a post-match interaction video for BCCI TV, Tilak Varma asked Suryakumar Yadav about the power he generated for the shots he played behind the wicket. To this, Yadav gave a hilarious response.

The senior batter said that he will explain his shot in the dressing room. “Aaplogo (to the audience) ne to dekh hi liya hai, isko mai zara dressing room me baith ke samajhata hun (You guys have already seen it, I will make him sit and understand in the dressing room),” said Suryakumar in the video shared by BCCI

Notably, Suryakumar Yadav amazed everyone with his shot against Alazrri Jospeh as the batter hit a slower ball outside the off-stump over deep square leg for a six. Earlier, in his inning, Yadav also played his trademark pull against Obed McCoy where the batter pulls the ball between the fine leg and square leg.
