Suryakumar Yadav’s knock ensures India stay alive in the T20I series
Coming into the 5-match T20I series, Suryakumar Yadav’s form didn’t look good. The batter played 10 ODIs wherein he averaged only 14.11 runs. Although he was good for the T20I side this year, it was his ODI form that was of huge concern. In the first 2 games of the series, India lost by 4 runs and by 2 wickets in the first and second T20I respectively. SKY scored 1 and 21 in those 2 games. But when India needed to win the next game to stay alive in the series, Yadav put his hands up and delivered for his team.
Chasing 160, India lost debutant Yashashvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in the first 5 overs of the game. With the team again under pressure, Suryakumar played a match-winning innings of 83 off 44 balls, striking the ball all over the ground. Along with that, he stitched an important partnership of 87 runs with rising star, Tilak Varma who ended the game with 49 runs to his name, missing his second consecutive T20I half-century by a run.
India and West Indies will now travel to the United States of America to play the 2 remaining games at Central Broward Park in Florida.
