This statement was condemned by thousands around the world and definitely did not go well with the Pakistan Cricket Board and their former cricketers. However, despite all the off-field tension – India and Pakistan will be starting their T20 World campaign on Sunday, 23rd October.

India beat Pakistan via “Bowl-Out” (Durban, 2007): First time the arch-rivals came together in the shortest form of the game in the competition was during the inaugural T20 World Cup. It was a nail-biting finish as the match ended in a tie. MS Dhoni’s men put a modest 141 on board but Pakistan somehow failed to overhaul the total. The match went down to a tie-breaker which at that time was a “bowl-out”. India were declared the winner as they hit the stumps on continuous three occasions while Pakistan’s bowlers failed to do so on all three.

India beat Pakistan by 5 runs (Johannesburg, 2007): The arch-rivals locked horns once again inaugural tournament but this time on the biggest stage – the final. The match once again went down to the wire and Men in Blue once again held their nerves to beat their neighbours to lift the title. Gautam Gambhir was the hero as he smashed 75 to help India post a fighting total of 157 on board. However, despite getting off to a flying start thanks to Imran Nazir – Pakistan stumbled in the middle overs as India fought their way back into the match. But Misbah-ul-Haq stood strong and it looked like he would snatch the victory in the last over but a horrendous shot led to his downfall – giving India a 5-run win.

India beat Pakistan by 8 wickets (Colombo, 2012): The two teams once again had a face-off but this time around it was a pretty one-sided affair. Laxmipathy Balaji was the pick of the bowlers with three scalps as Pakistan were bundled out for 128. Virat Kohli then played one of the finest knocks of the competition – an unbeaten 78 from 61 balls to help India to a convincing win.

India beat Pakistan by 7 wickets (Dhaka, 2014): Fans around the world were treated to another Indo-Pak contest in the T20 World Cup. It was another one-way affair where Indian bowlers dominated the Pakistan batters. Indian bowlers did everything right on that day to restrict Pakistan to just 130/7 thanks to Amit Mishra’s brilliant spell of 2 for 22 in his quota of overs. India went on to win the match with 9 balls spare as the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina all made useful contributions with the bat.

India beat Pakistan by 6 wickets (Kolkata, 2016): The rain-curtailed affair was down to 18-over per side encounter. Indian bowlers hit the deck brilliantly and kept brilliant line and length to restrict Pakistan to 118/5. In reply, India’s opening order fell like a pack of cards and was struggling at 23/3 on one occasion. However, Kohli had something else in his mind as he smashed an unbeaten 55 from 37 balls to take India home.

Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets (Dubai, 2021): During their group-stage match last year, Pakistan claimed a comprehensive 10-wicket victory over India to break their winless streak against them in the World Cups. Shaheen Shah Afridi was the wreck-in-chief as Pakistan restricted India to 151 for 7 after asking them to first. After that Pakistan’s openers, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan produced a masterclass of 68 and 79 respectively as they beat India by 10 wickets.
