Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin heaps special praise on “adopted son” MS Dhoni

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has earned a massive fan following all around India. As the Ranchi-born cricketer played for the country for more than a decade, Dhoni gets massive respect wherever he goes in the country. However, there is one region apart from his home town where Dhoni gets the loudest of cheers and that is Chennai.

In fact, MS Dhoni is synonymous with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League. As Dhoni has been playing for Chennai for more than 15 years now, he is one of the biggest faces in the state of Tamil Nadu. While the Thala of Chennai continues to get all the love from the fans, Dhoni has received special words of praise from the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin.

Stalin said that like anybody else in the state, he is also a big fan of Dhoni. The Tamil Nadu CM went on to call Dhoni the “adopted son” of the state and wished that the former India captain continues to play for CSK in the coming years.

“Like everyone in Tamil Nadu, I am also a very big fan of MS Dhoni…I hope our adopted son of Tamil Nadu will continue to play for CSK…He is an inspiration for millions of Indian youth…We want to create many more Dhonis from our Tamil Nadu, not just in cricket but in all sports,” says CM MK Stalin at the launch of “Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation” & “Chief Minister’s Trophy” logo & mascot in Chennai.

Although MK Stalin and many more Chennai Super Kings fans wish to see MS Dhoni playing for the franchise in the coming years, it seems this might be the last season Dhoni is seen in Yellow. The CSK captain is already 41 years of age and is also nursing injuries so there is a big possibility of him hanging his boots after this edition of the tournament.

However, Dhoni has kept the suspense with mixed comments. While he initially used words like “last phase of career” and “farewell”, the CSK captain denied that this was his last season stating that it’s the fans and others who have assumed the same.
