Virat Kohli shared a story on his Instagram of a gift given to him by Hong Kong team with a heartfelt message. The Hong Kong team has given him their team jersey with the message that read:
“Virat, Thank you for inspiring a generation. We stand with you. There are many incredible days ahead. With strength. With Love Team Hong Kong”.
Kohli posted the photo of the jersey with the caption: “Thank you @hkcricket. This gesture is truly humbling and very very sweet.”
Yesterday, India played its second match of Asia Cup 2022 against Hong Kong. He scored his 31st half-century and fans were buzzing to see their “King Kohli” returning to form.
Rohit Sharma goes past Virat Kohli with most wins in T20I as captain
After defeating Hong Kong, India captain Rohit Sharma surpassed Virat Kohli to become India’s second most successful captain in T20Is. Rohit has 31 victories out of 37 while Kohli has 30 wins in 50 matches. Former India captain MS Dhoni still tops the list with 41 wins from 72 matches.
In the match against Hong Kong, Kohli had scored 59 runs off 44 balls but Suryakumar Yadav was the man who entertained even Kohli. Suryakumar played a quick 68 runs knock off just 26 balls that helped India post target of 193. Hong Kong failed to reach the score by 40 runs.
Also, India became the first team in the last 14 T20Is in Dubai to successfully defend a target. The last team to defend the target was when PNG defended their 130 against Namibia in November 2019.
With the win the Men in Blue have booked their spot in the Super 4s and became the second team after Afghanistan to do so.
