David Warner, the veteran Australian batter, who needs no introduction, retired from Tests after playing his last match in Sydney against Pakistan. In his final outing, the 37-year-old scored 57 runs from 75 balls on his home ground, guiding Australia to a 3-0 series sweep.

Those who watched Warner during the early part of his career know that he was not someone who remained calm and composed on the field. He often used his mouth to get under the opposition’s skin and was involved in the infamous ball-tampering saga in 2018. In a recent chat with Fox Cricket, Warner recalled his aggressive character on the field as a newcomer.

Over the years, I haven't been everyone's cup of tea but, I've played the game as hard as I can and tried to do my best for the team.
Warner told Fox Cricket

But Warner claimed that though people thought him very aggressive, he tried to change his approach in the latter part of his career. He revealed that to change his aggressive character, he stopped drinking for a couple of years.

He added:

I went for two years when I was called the Reverend. I stopped drinking for two and a half years and really enjoyed that time.

SCG crowd bids farewell to David Warner

After guiding his team to an eight-wicket victory, David Warner walked off the ground to the pavilion amid a standing ovation from the Sydney fans. As the crowd at the stadium was allowed to enter the ground, almost every fan walked onto the field to see Warner for one last time in red-ball cricket and to celebrate his career and Australia’s victory. Social media is flooded with pictures of the same.
