“THE GOD OF IPL,” Twitter goes crazy as MS Dhoni thrashes Rajasthan bowlers for fun in CSK vs RR

Mahi maar raha hai! Mahendra Singh Dhoni is 41 but he never looks like one. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain is still the ‘biggest dog’ in IPL and he proved why on Wednesday (12 April). Dhoni might not have finished it off in style but the CSK captain kept his time alive in the chase when it all seemed done and dusted. Coming in to bat at No.8 for CSK, Dhoni scored a 17-ball 32, powered with three sixes to pull things back for the hosts.

Had Dhoni hit a six off the last ball against Sandeep Sharma, it could have been a perfect end for his fans. Nevertheless, Dhoni’s little cameo was enough for the fans to go bonkers on social media. Twitter was flooded with reactions praising the CSK captain for putting on a performance defying his age.

The CSK captain started his knock with a single against R Ashwin. Dhoni then hit Adam Zampa for a boundary and a six in the 18th over to unleash himself. The former India captain then hit consecutive sixes against Sandeep Sharma in the last over to push the match to the edge. However, Sandeep Sharma kept his calm and executed his yorkers to perfection and helped RR win the game by three runs.

This was CSK’s second defeat of IPL 2023 and the first in the last three games. However, although CSK lost, fans were happy to see their Thala smashing it all around the park.

Dhoni does not care for milestones

To everyone’s attention, this was also Dhoni’s 200th match as CSK captain. However, the former India captain seemed to care less about it as Dhoni said that it was just another game for him.

“I really didn’t know it was my 200th (game as CSK skipper) and milestones don’t really matter for me, it is about how you’re performing and the results,” said Dhoni at the post-match press conference.
