“This is WWE, calling Vince McMahon”- Rishabh Pant antics in last over brings some good gully cricket in IPL
Rovman Powell and Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals’ captain, was seen fuming over the decision of the umpire of not calling a high full toss a no-ball in the penultimate over drama against Rajasthan Royals on Friday, April 22 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The Delhi Capitals pavilion were not at all satisfied with the decision and Rishabh Pant himself, with an angrier look on his face, started calling back the batsmen. He then actually sent one of their coaches Pravin Amre to discuss the matter with the umpire.
This is what actually happened: Dramatic controversies erupted in the final over when in the 3rd ball of RR’s Obed McCoy was a high-full toss to Rovman Powell. Powell hit a six off that ball and asked for the umpire to give it a no-ball to which the umpire declined.

“WWE level stuffs”- Fans compare the drama to WWE
The last over seemed like a “WWE level stuff” as fans are amusing over the drama and that they were waiting for Vince McMahon to run out on the field too. Powell started hitting huge sixes, umpire didn’t give a no-ball, Rishabh Pant calling his teammate back and Praveen Amre ran to the field to talk with the umpires. Look at how Twitter reacted to this:
The on-field umpires didn’t ask the third umpire to check if it was a no-ball or not. The dugout of DC where Pant, Amre, Shane Watson, and David Warner had their hands stretched out for the no-ball sign. The batsmen then had a word with the umpires.
Meanwhile, some hilarious things could also be seen as Yuzvendra Chahal stopped Kuldeep Yadav from charging across the square-leg umpire. Yadav would try to go to the umpire again and again and Chahal always blocked his way and asked him to get back.
Rishabh Pant seemed as if he didn’t want the game to resume until the umpire take a decision but we would never know what he meant by that gesture until he opens up. Then Shane Watson got up to Pant and did he asked him not to do that?
Delhi were without their main coach Ricky Ponting who is in isolation after a family of his has been tested covid positive.
“I don’t know who they they they are but that was a huge mistake, I just don’t understand the coach running in to field of play. He is a senior member. That is unacceptable. I hope that we never ever every see it again,” said Kevin Pietersen later.
But the drama ended and RR defeated DC by 15 runs. Jos Buttler had scored his 3rd ton in this match but this match will always be remembered for its infamous no-ball controversy.
