BCCI partners with Adidas

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday officially announced the onboarding of global sportswear brand Adidas as their new kit sponsor. The two parties have entered into a five-year contract that will see Adidas designing and manufacturing jerseys, kits and other merchandise for India’s Men’s, Women’s, and U-19 teams till March 2028.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) & adidas has today announced a brand-new partnership as the kit sponsor for the BCCI. The contract, which runs through to March 2028, will give adidas exclusive rights for manufacturing kit across all formats of the game. adidas will be the sole supplier for all match, training & travel wear for the BCCI- including the men’s, women’s & youth teams,” said BCCI in a release on Tuesday. BCCI also released a video announcing their partnership with adidas.

The Indian cricket board also revealed that the Indian Men’s team will don the jersey designed by their new kit sponsors during the World Test Championship Finals against Australia, starting on June 7 at The Oval. “Starting June 2023, Team India will be seen in the three stripes for the very first time and will debut their new kit during the World Test Championship Finals,” said BCCI.

With this news coming in, fans were chuffed to bits. While some called it an emotional day, some are waiting to see the Indian team in the new jerseys at the WTC Final. A few also hope that this new kit sponsor brings luck to the Indian team.

Notably, BCCI earlier had MPL Sports as their kit sponsors who were onboarded in 2020. However, Kewal Kiran Clothing Limited (KKCL) who owns the famous clothing brand Killer replaced MPL as the kit sponsor in Jan 2023 after MPL pulled out of the deal. Now, Adidas has been roped in as the new kit sponsor on a five-year deal.
