Tom Moody banks on Virat Kohli to inspire RCB into Playoffs

Former Australian cricketer and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) coach Tom Moody believes Virat Kohli is the key player for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of their must-win game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. As RCB’s hopes of qualifying for the IPL 2023 Playoffs hang by a thread, Moody believes Kohli will do everything at his disposal to inspire the team to victory.

Notably, RCB have 12 points from 12 games and are placed in the fifth position in the points table. The Faf du Plessis-led team needs to win the game against SRH to bolster their qualification chances. But if they lose, RCB’s campaign in IPL 2023 will be done and dusted. Amid this intense build-up, Moody has pinned his hopes on Kohli.

“RCB’s form has tapered off through the halfway stage, they started well but lost steam in the second phase. So they need to pull up their socks and go full throttle in the remaining games. They have a player like Virat Kohli, who will do everything in his potential to help RCB stay in the playoffs race,” said Moody on Star Sports.

Will Virat Kohli be able to take RCB home?

Not just Tom Moody, every RCB fan has their hopes pinned on Virat Kohli but will he be able to take the team home? The RCB stalwart started the season on a high but has struggled to score big in the past few games. Kohli’s struggles against spin have not gone ignored and SRH will also look to stop Kohli with spin.

The pitch at Rajiv Gandhi stadium is known for its sluggish nature and thus it will be interesting to see how the RCB great combats that challenge. Meanwhile, Yusuf Pathan has advised RCB to stick together and not rely on a few players.

“RCB will have to play as a team. Now is not the time that RCB should focus on just three players (Kohli, Maxwell and Faf). Now every player will have to come forward and fulfil his responsibility,” Pathan said.
