“Too tired and heartbroken,” Fans left fuming after another group stage exit for RCB in IPL 2023
Despite a valiant batting effort from Virat Kohli (101* off 61), RCB lost their last league game against Gujarat Titans (GT) and were knocked out of the tournament
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and must-win games never go hand in hand. Despite a valiant batting effort from Virat Kohli (101* off 61), RCB lost their last league game against Gujarat Titans (GT) and were knocked out of IPL 2023 and with this, the wait for an IPL trophy continues for RCB and their fans.
Although RCB put on a good total (197/5) on the board in their 20 overs, Shubman Gill’s second IPL century spoiled the hosts’ party. The GT opener scored a 52-ball 104* and also finished the game with a maximum. Gill perfectly placed his inning and held one end intact for GT while the likes of Vijay Shankar (53 off 35) played their part.
RCB bowlers looked completely out of touch as Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar tore apart the attack in the middle overs. Despite an early breakthrough in the form of Wriddhiman Saha, RCB could not build the pressure on GT. Gill and Shankar found boundaries with ease and formed a 123-run partnership for the second wicket.
After Shankar fell and other batters struggled to get going, Gill took command and notched up a brilliant century for himself. Eventually, with six required of six, the young batter hit Wayne Parnell for a maximum over long-on to finish the game and knock RCB out of IPL 2023.
Agony for RCB fans, joy for MI!
With RCB getting knocked out, it was agony for their fans. They were left heartbroken at this defeat for RCB. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians fans were overjoyed as their team made it through to the IPL 2023 playoffs.
