In the T20 World Cup in 2016, in a rain affected game, Pakistan’s started slow and the top batters could only accumupate 50 runs in 66 balls. Umar Akmal scored 22 runs off 16 balls while Shoaib Malik scored 26 runs off 16 balls. Pakistan’s score read 118/5 in heir 18 overs.
In less than five overs, India’s score read 23/3. However, Virat Kohli unleashed an unbeaten quickfire of 55 runs off 37 balls helping India win by six wickets (13 balls left). Also, in that same match, Virat Kohli had bowed down to Sachin Tendulkar after scoring his half-century.

This was also India’s first encounter with Pakistan in T20 World Cup. Mohammad Asif 4/18 restricted India to just 141. In response, Pakistan were tethering for 47/4 before Misbah-ul-Haq stepped up and scored a fine half-century.
Pakistan needed one run off last two balls and eventually the game was tied. Instead of Super Overs, the game went to bowl-out contest. India hit the stumps three times while Pakistan couldn’t able to hit even once, so the high-profile match ended in MS Dhoni’s India beating Pakistan.

The inaugural World Cup was played in South Africa and a young and long-haired MS Dhoni was made captain for the first time. After winning the toss, Men in Blue decided to bat first. Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma scored 75 runs off 54 balls and 30 runs off 16 balls respectively which helped India post 157 on the board.
Pakistan unleased quick-fires and at the same time, kept losing wickets. RP Singh was the star bowler who scalped 3 wickets in his four overs. The famous final moment still remains fresh in Indian cricket fans’ minds. Misbah-ul-Haq would have led Pakistan to their maiden title but his famous scoop against Jogindar Singh made S Sreesanth caught the ball at fine leg, helping India win by five runs and become the first ever World T20 champions.

For the first time in the history of World Cups, Pakistan were able to defeat India. Choosing to bowl first, Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi broke India’s back with figures of 3/31. Only Virat Kohli managed to score 57 runs off 49 balls and along with Rishabh Pant’s 39, India put up 151/7 in their 20 overs.
In response, openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan didn’t sweat and played unbeaten knocks 79 off 55 balls and 68 off 52 balls respectively to take Pakistan to their first victory in the history by 10 wickets.
