The second edition of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final is nearing its end with the fourth innings already underway. India have been given a massive target of 444 runs by Australia.

While the Indian openers started things cautiously in the second innings, luck did not seem to go their way as Shubman Gill was wrongly adjudged out by the TV Umpire, Richard Kettleborough

Despite replays showing that the ball touched the ground before Cameron Green put a finger under it and got back up, the TV Umpire stayed the on-field decision of OUT. The incident took place on the first ball of the eighth over of India’s second innings. Scott Boland bowled on the good length and the ball shot up a bit, hitting the shoulder of Gill’s bat.

The ball flew to the slip region where Green put in a dive to his left and grabbed a one-handed stunner. However, as the fielder was going down, he lost control of the ball and it clearly touched the grass before Green gained back control. But Richard Kettleborough found no conclusive evidence to overturn the on-field decision.

The fans on social media did not sit ideal either. They called out this decision from the TV umpire in big numbers.
