India hammered Australia in the second T20I to draw the three-match T20I series by 1-1. Rohit Sharma’s 46*-run knock and Dinesh Karthik’s terrific finish did the work for India and Men in Blue were able to win the match by six wickets on Friday, September 23 at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur.

In a rain-affected match, overs were reduced to eight and Australia, who were asked to bat first, put on 90/5 in the alloted overs. Aaron Finch and Matthew Wade smashed 31 runs off 15 balls and 43* runs off 20 balls respectively.

When Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul walked out to bat, the former seemed to be in the mood of smashing shots from the very start. Rahul was soon dismissed and India too lost two wickets quite soon after that but Rohit stayed glued to the pitch and kept smacking Aussie bowlers.

Adam Zampa gave first breakthrough to Australia by claiming Rahul’s wicket in the third over. Zampa bowled a full in line with the stumps. Rahul looked to slog sweep across the line of the ball but he missed it. The ball went on to hit the off pole. He walked back after scoring 10 runs off six balls.

Virat Kohli, though he too smashed quick fours, soon took a long walk back to the dressing room. Zampa was the one to dismiss him too. He bowled a full around leg and Kohli came down the track to flick it away but ended up playing all around it. The ball sneaked through his defense and hit the top of leg. He departed after scoring 11 runs off six balls with two boundaries.

Zampa then got rid of Suryakumar Yadav for a golden duck. Pat Cummins send back Hardik Pandya for nine runs off nine balls. But when Dinesh Karthik came, 10 runs were needed in six balls. Karthik smashed a six off his first ball, then a four off the second ball and India won the match by six wickets.
