Virat Kohli scored his 32nd half-century against Pakistan in the Super 4 stage on Sunday, September 4 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

Rohit Sharma’s Men in Blue were asked to bat first and they set up a competitive score of 181 by losing seven wickets. Although India got a good start with openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul stitching a 54-run partnership, India’s middle order didn’t score well. One after the other, wickets kept falling but this wasn’t the case with  Virat Kohli .

Kohli kept India’s innings on the move when from the other sides Pakistani bowlers kept uprooting wickets. He stitched short parnerships with other batters, helping India’s score reach 181/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

He played till the penultimate over but unfortunately, a run out sent him back. After the wicket of Deepak Hooda, Bhuvneshwar Kumar just entered the crease and Kohli wanted to have the strike. In the fourth ball, he flicked the ball from Haris Rauf towards the square leg and called for two.

Asif Ali there was quick to collect it and made a direct hit. The decision was taken upstairs with the replay showing Kohli was just out of his crease. Kohli then departed after scoring 60 runs off 44 balls with four boundaries and a six. Kohli stands at the top by scoring his 32nd half-century, surpassing Rohit Sharma’s 31st 50+ in T20Is.

Talking about the match, Rohit and Rahul had scored 28 and 28 runs respectively. Suryakumar Yadav, the hero of India’s last match, failed to score today. He departed after a short knock of 13 runs. Rishabh Pant pre-meditated for reverse sweep but couldn’t get any power on it. He walked back after a knock of 14 runs off 12 balls. Hooda had scored 16 runs off 14 balls.
