“Not an El Clasico anymore”- Twitter erupts after CSK leave arch-rivals MI in tatters despite Nehal Wadhera’s half-century

CSK vs MI

Mumbai Indians (MI) with the help of Nehal Wadhera‘s half-century posted a small total of 139/8 in their 20 overs against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday (May 6) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

After winning the toss, CSK skipper MS Dhoni asked the opponents to bat first. Tushar Deshpande drew the first blood after sending Cameron Green to packing in the second over.

Now this game saw the return of Deepak Chahar who had been dealing with injury issues. But he made a brilliant comeback as he was the wrecker-in-chief during the powerplay. He first dismissed Ishan Kishan, then removed Rohit Sharma for a duck. In MI’s previous match also, the skipper fell for a duck.

But Nehal Wadhera, when at one end the wickets started tumbling, played responsively albeit slowly. If it wasn’t for his knock, MI might have not crossed the three-figure mark. Wadhera smashed six and eight fours to score 64 runs from 51 innings before Matheesha Pathirana bowled him out to bag his first wicket.

Apart from Wadhera, Suryakumar Yadav and Tristan Stubbs also played dull innings. While Suryakumar scored 22-ball 26, Stubbs could add 20 from 21 balls. Other than these three batsmen, others couldn’t even cross the two-digit mark. Somehow they reached 139/8 and though the total looks small, the slow pitch maybe won’t make CSK’s run-chase easy.

Matheesha Pathirana was the pick of the CSK bowlers with three scalps. He conceded just 15 runs in his full quota of four overs at an economy of 3.75. Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande scalped two wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja dismissed one batsman.
