Kyle Mayers‘ presence in the team is the biggest thing that happened to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The Barbadian batsman created mayhem with his terrific half-century against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Friday (April 28) at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali.

After winning the toss, PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan (who also played his first match after missing a couple of them), chose to bowl first. LSG produced a scintillating start, all credit goes to Kyle Mayers. The other opener, KL Rahul, flopped again. All he could contribute was 12 runs from nine balls.

But after Rahul’s dismissal, LSG again started racking up quick runs. Alongside Mayers, Ayush Badoni also turned all guns blazing. But in the sixth over, Kagiso Rabada delivered a short ball which Mayers attempted to smash but mistimed and the ball traveled toward skipper Dhawan who doesn’t miss an easy catch. Mayers’ 24-ball 54-run knock had seven fours and four maximums, and he also batted at a huge strike rate of 225.

As far as the match goes, LSG have reached a whopping 147/2 in 12 overs, courtesy of Badoni, and now Marcus Stoinis is firing all cylinders. He is batting at 38* off 22 balls and no PBKS bowlers are able to do anything to stop the run flow. If the visitors do not lose momentum, another 200-plus total can be seen in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
