Wriddhiman Saha, Shubman Gill
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were left stunned after the assaults from Gujarat Titans’ (GT) Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill, for both of them fired on all cylinders to take their team to a massive 227/2 (their highest in Indian Premier League (IPL) in their 20 overs, on Sunday (May 7) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both Saha and Gill slammed their respective half-centuries and owing to only these two batters, GT reached that total.
After winning the toss, LSG skipper Krunal Pandya chose to field first. But they had no answer in front of the GT openers, Gill and Saha. They stitched a 142-run stand before Avesh Khan was able to finally give the first breakthrough by dismissing the Saha in the 12th over. But it was too late as GT perfectly used that powerful start to drive toward a mammoth total.
Saha racked up a 43-ball 81 with 10 fours and four maximums at an impressive strike rate of 188.37. Gill remained unbeaten on 94 off 51 balls, and his knock was laced with two boundaries and a whopping seven sixes, at a strike rate of 184.31. This was Gill’s fifth half-century of this season, and 19th overall, while Saha hammered his second half-century this season and 13th one in his career.
