In the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rajasthan Royals signed Yuzvendra Chahal and he finished the season as the Purple Cap holder, playing a crucial role in helping RR reach the final. But off the field, other kinds of stuff created headlines- his light-hearted banter with Jos Buttler, even before the start of the IPL. He would make the English white-ball skipper dance, would irritate him via social media posts, will ask him to open the innings alongside him, etc.

But now, Chahal seemed to have found the former English skipper Joe Root to bond with. Root was bought by the franchise for his base price of Rs 1 crore and it is also the Englishman’s first IPL appearance.

Although he is yet to play a game, off the field, he is having a great time with his teammates. Recently RR’s Twitter handle shared a video of Root dancing with Chahal to the famous song “Bharosa Tere Pyar Te.”

Welcome to IPL (Yuzi style) Roooot!,” RR captioned the video with a laughing emoji. But before that video, RR shared another one where Chahal could be heard shouting “Jos Bhai sorry” before the dance with Joe Root.

In a video posted by IPL earlier this week, Jos Buttler asked Joe Root: “So everyone on social media’s been saying there’s a new friendship brewing between you and Yuzi. You actually like him, or like me, you entertain him and try and keep him at arm’s length?

And Root’s response was: “No, he’s great fun. I really enjoyed his company. Even though I have played a lot against him, I have never really gotten to know him before. I’m sure it’ll be entertaining throughout the tournament. He’s a good character.” When Root was asked about whom he would like to avoid, he joked that it’s Chahal.

Jos Buttler has a terrific season last year. The swashbuckling opener amassed 863 runs with four hundred and the same number of half-centuries, with the highest being 114, and he batted at a strike rate of 149.05. This season also, the 33-year-old smashed a half-century in the first match.

The Rajasthan Royals have had a mixed season so far, winning one and losing by a small margin. They will face Delhi Capitals in their next game on Sunday.
