“Captains of India are captains of MI”- Twitter erupts as Harmanpreet Kaur sold to Mumbai Indians
This means that Mumbai Indians will have both the Men's and Women's team captain. Men's team captain Rohit Sharma is also with the Mumbai Indians with whom he has won five trophies.
Harmanpreet Kaur
India Women’s team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was sold to Mumbai Indians for INR 1.8 crore. Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, and UP Warriorz were competing to rope in the Indian skipper. But Mumbai beat the other teams in the competition. She was the second player to go under the hammer after star batter Smriti Mandhana. She was sold to the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping INR 3.4 crore (the highest price so far).
This means that Mumbai Indians will have both the Men’s and Women’s team captains. Men’s team captain Rohit Sharma is also with the Mumbai Indians with whom he has won five trophies, which has made Mumbai the most successful team in the Indian Premier League history.
Harmanpreet is currently captaining the India women’s team in the ongoing 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup. She is leading the team since 2017 and also became the ODI captain after Mithali Raj took retirement.
Harmanpreet has led India to the final of the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup where they were defeated by Australia. She also led the team to the Commonwealth Games final last year where, again, Australia beat them.
