India played their second match against West Indies at the ongoing 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup on Wednesday (February 15) at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town. After snatching victory from Pakistan in their first match, Harmanpreet Kaur’s women continued the same by winning their second match by six wickets against Hayley Matthews and co.

Chasing a target of 119, India got off to a fiery start with openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana stitching 32 runs. But Karishma Ramharack got rid of the dangerous Mandhana in the fourth over. Soon Jemimah Rodrigues walked back after scoring one run. A few overs later, Ramharack trapped Shafali Verma as well. Shafali played a knock of 28 runs off 23 balls, including five boundaries.

Then skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh took the responsibility on their shoulders to win the match. Kaur played a slow knock of 33 runs from 42 balls, while Ghosh, who remained unbeaten, hit five boundaries to score 44 runs from 32 balls to steer the team to the target. Her boundary to Smailia Connell did the job as India registered another comfortable win.
