Delhi Capitals former skipper Rishabh Pant attended the team’s first match on home ground Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday (April 4). The wicketkeeper-batter met with a terrible car crash last December, due to which he sustained several injuries and has been recovering from them. He won’t be playing any matches for Delhi this season.

We are in Delhi, we will play our first match here, we are missing you. I have all the wishes for you to recover soon. We always have a connection and the team misses you,” spinner Kuldeep Yadav said ahead of the match while wishing Pant a speedy recovery.

Talking about the match between Delhi and Gujarat, the latter, with the help of Sai Sudharshan’s brilliant knock and David Miller‘s finishing touches, won it by six wickets while chasing 163. Although Delhi were able to scalp three quick wickets at first, no bowler had answers in front of Sudharshan who held his nerve and didn’t lose his wicket.

When Delhi picked up the fourth wicket, of Vijay Shankar (29 off 23), entered David Miller, who quickly slammed two fours and the same number of sixes to finish the match early. He and Sudharshan remained not out. While Sudharshan scored an unbeaten 62 runs from 48 balls with four boundaries and two sixes, Miller’s scored an unbeaten 31 runs from 16 balls at an incredible strike rate of 193.75.

Like the last year, Gujarat Titans have started their campaign strongly in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) also. In their first match, they defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) while chasing a challenging total.

Delhi, however, are still searching for their first points. They lost their previous match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 50 runs. They will face Rajasthan Royals next on Saturday (April 8), while Gujarat will lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in their next assignment.

In case you missed!
