“Gill gave a thrill!”- Twitter fans laud Shubman Gill for accomplishing yet another feat this year
In January, he became the youngest player to score a double century in ODIs (against New Zealand). Then went on to slam his maiden T20I century against the same team.

Shubman Gill
Though this is Shubman Gill‘s first century at home, he achieved another special feat with this knock. On Saturday (March 11), Gill scored a resilient 149-ball 100 in the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The 23-year-old smashed a four off Todd Murphy’s delivery to reach the three-figure mark in style, simultaneously notching up his second Test century. And with this ton, he became the only fourth Indian player to slam a century across all the formats in a calendar year. Before him, Suresh Raina, KL Rahul, and Rohit Sharma did the same thing. In January, he became the youngest player to score a double century in ODIs (against New Zealand). Then went on to slam his maiden T20I century against the same team.

In his 128-run knock, Gill smacked 12 boundaries and was heading for a huge score but got trapped by Nathan Lyon off lbw and departed after a well-made 128 runs. So far India have lost three wickets for 246 runs.
India have previously lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara. Virat Kohli is at the crease playing at 33* and will be batting with Ravindra Jadeja.
Sunil Gavaskar heaps praise on Shubman Gill’s batting

During a conversation with Star Sports, the legendary Sunil Gavaskar commented on Gill’s future. He first lauded his batting skills and hoped that if he keeps his career in a straight direction, he can easily score 8000-10000 runs in Tests.
“He has a lot of time. When he plays a defensive shot, the way he bends forward, even against Mitchel Starc…he presents a straight face of the bat and plays forward defense,” Gavaskar said. “He doesn’t only play on the back foot, his food moves forward and he has a solid defense, not just a solid attack. And in Test cricket, you need that,” Gavaskar added.
He further added: “If a batter has time, if he keeps his career in the right direction, he can easily score 8,000-10,000 runs in Tests“.
Gill made his Test debut for India during the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne back in 2020. And this ongoing match is his 15th Test for India. He has amassed 762 runs in his last 27 Test innings.
