“We Naatu Naatu our way to The Oval!”- Twitter fans react as India qualify for ICC WTC final after a high-scoring 4th BGT Test ends in dull draw
Despite the dull draw, India have qualified for the ICC World Test Championship Final, which is slated to take place on June 7 this year at The Oval.

India qualify for WTC final
The fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series ended in a dull draw on Day 5 on Monday (March 13) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Even before Day 5, that the match would end in a draw was already known, for the pitch did not aid the bowlers much from both the sides.
Fans did not even hope for a batting collapse; they knew even Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja’s spin would prove to be flat on that flat track. As India had already retained the trophy 2-1, then won this edition of the BGT also.
Despite the dull draw, India have qualified for the ICC World Test Championship Final, which is slated to take place on June 7 this year at The Oval. Australia have already secured a berth following their victory at the Indore Test by nine wickets.
Indian fans were more concerned with the result of the first Test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Sri Lanka were inching closer to victory but eventually, to the happiness of the Indian cricket fraternity, New Zealand, with Kane Williamson’s century, ended up winning the match by two wickets in a thriller.

Talking about the fourth match, Australia, after winning the toss and batting first put on 480 after Usman Khawaja’s 180 and Cameron Green’s 114. India chased away the total comfortably, before getting bundled out on 571 on Day 4. Virat Kohli was the star of the match after his 28th Test century (186), plus Shubman Gill also smacked his maiden century at home.
In response, Travis Head missed his century by 10 runs, while Marnus Labuschagne scored an unbeaten 61 before the match was called off after Australia declared their innings at 175/2.
“Test cricket is hard-fought cricket and isn’t easy. I am quite satisfied. I know that kind of benchmark I have set for myself. I keep the personal milestone aside. We have got the result of what I wanted from the series. To get the result makes us very happy,” Rohit Sharma said after the match.
The Nagpur Test proved horrible for the visitors as they were crushed by an innings and 132 runs. So was the Delhi Test where India registered a six-wicket victory. But Australia bounced back in the Indore Test with Nathan Lyon’s masterclass but couldn’t emulate the same in Ahmedabad. After one month of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the two teams will gear up for the upcoming three-match ODI series, starting March 17.
