All eyes were on the India vs Pakistan match today that took place in Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. On Saturday, the Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma hammered the Pakistan cricket team in the much-anticipated 2023 ODI World Cup. The Indian captain Rohit had a remarkable game as he scored 86 runs to lead India to a victory.
It was all India from the 1st innings of the game as the Indian bowlers spearheaded by pacer Jasprit Bumrah ran through the Pakistani batters after a good partnership between Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. India bowled out Pakistan for just 191 runs in 41.5 overs. Pakistan’s captain Babar led the team in scoring with 50 runs from 58 deliveries. On India’s side, every bowler except Shardul Thakur took 2 wickets each to close out the 1st innings.
And when it was India’s time to bat, boundaries rained from the bats of Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer. Initially, the ICC No.2 ranked ODI batsman in the world Shubman Gill, and former Indian captain Virat Kohli went back to the pavilion after scoring 16 runs each. And then, current captain Rohit and Shreyas steadied the ship with both batters scoring half-centuries.
Shortly after scoring his half-century, Rohit fell to Shaheen Afridi and walked back to the dugout. After that, Iyer and wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul took India over the line with nearly 20 overs left in the game. In the end, India won the high-octane game by 7 wickets. With the victory, Team India kept their undefeated record against Pakistan in the ODI World Cups alive and now has a clean record of 8-0 against them in ODI WC tournaments.
Rohit led the Indian team in runs scored with 86 runs from just 63 deliveries. Rohit Sharma played at a strike rate of 136.51 in a crucial game. However, the Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah ended up getting the Player of the Match award for his brilliant spell (7-1-19-2) that set the tone of the game.
