Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja
India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja once again became the demolisher of Australia in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. He completed his five-wicket haul at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday (February 19). He was not alone in destroying lackluster Australia as Ravichandran Ashwin too ran through the Aussie batting line-up.
Ashwin and Jadeja, considered the greatest spin duo in Test history, finished the visitors within the first session on Day 3, as India are heading toward another victory. All Australia could put on was a meager target of 114.
Only Travis Head, who is considered a better player of spin, could score 43 off 46 before Ashwin’s smart bowling triggered the fall of wickets and engulfed Pat Cummins and co. Eight Aussie batsmen fell for single-digit runs, while three were dismissed for ducks (Peter Handscomb, Pat Cummins, and Matthew Kuhnemann).
Jadeja picked up his 12th five-wicket haul in a Test match. He first removed Marnus Labuschagne, then went on to dismiss Alex Carey, Peter Handscomb, Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins, and Matthew Kuhnemann. Earlier, he had dismissed Usman Khawaja in the last session of Day 2. He finished with the figures of 7/42.

Jadeja is one of the most impressive players in cricket. He remained on the sidelines since September 2022 due to a knee injury, had to undergo surgery, then rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He made a comeback to the longest format by playing in the Ranji Trophy, giving an impressive performance there as well.
After making his comeback to the Test side, Jadeja picked up seven wickets in the first Test, including a five-wicket haul, and contributed runs as well. He scored a crucial half-century, helping India put a mammoth target. The all-rounder from Sourashtra picked up 10 wickets so far in the second Test.
Australia started well, but faltered in front of the spinners, as the hosts are on the cusp of taking the lead 2-0. Chasing the 114-run target, KL Rahul was dismissed for a mere one run. For the left two Tests, the management might consider including in-form Shubman Gill in place of Rahul. But it is too soon to say this because the management might enrage the fans again by giving Rahul another chance to perform.
As far as the match goes, India have scored 39/2, with Rohit Sharma playing a quick knock of 32 off 20 balls, with three boundaries and two sixes at a strike rate of 155. India are now trailing behind 76 runs.
