The WPL is set to start on March 4 and will end on March 26. The five teams which will take part in the inaugural season are Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriorz. Needless to say that the first three teams already own teams in Men’s IPL.

At first, a total of 1525 players registered for the auction but 409 were shortlisted to go under the hammer. The total number of Indian players in the auction was 248, while 163 were overseas players.

As the rule goes, the teams can buy 15 to 18 players, with seven overseas players. Five overseas players are allowed in the XI, which is unlike the Men’s IPL where only four are allowed.
