Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are locking-horns in what seems the knock-out match on Thursday, September 1 at the Dubai International Stadium in UAE.
Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and opted to bowl first. Openers, Mehidy Hasan and Sabbir Rahman walked out to bat but the latter soon was dismissed by Asitha Fernando on five runs off six balls. Hasan played 26 balls to score 38 runs with two boundaries and two sixes. But a ball from Wanindu Hasaranga sent him back. Hasan went for the slog sweep and played across the line of the ball. He missed and the ball crashed against the stumps.
Captain Shakib Al Hasan then played a short knock off 24 runs off 22 balls with three boundaries but Maheesh Theekshana angled a full ball and Shakib premeditates as he made room and tried to go inside-out but missed the ball and it hit the middle pole.
Afif Hossain was the top scorer for Bangladesh as he scored 39 runs off 22 balls with four boundaries and two sixes. Dilshan Madushanka bowled on fuller length onto the off stump line and Hossain tried to go big but didn’t time it well. Hasaranga at deep mid-wicket grabbed an easy catch.
Then Mahmudullah played a knock of 27 runs off 22 balls with a six and a four but Hasaranga dismissed him too. Hasaranga bowled this full and just outside the off stump. This tempts the battter and he shot. He went for the slog sweep but didn’t connect well. The ball flied straight into the hands of deep square leg where Chamika Karunaratne took an easy catch.
