“Ignore Samson and pick undeserving players!”- Twitter is unhappy as BCCI announces squad for T20 World Cup 2022; Bumrah, Harshal return
squad for T20 World Cup 2022
The wait is over as The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Australia from October 16 to November 13.
Much to everyone’s relief, the pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel are back in the side. These two have missed the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022 due to injuries. Now that they have recovered and cleared the fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, they will be contributing their services at the World Cup. Senior pacer Mohammad Shami is also back in the side. He hasn’t played a T20I match since last year’s World Cup but now he has been kept as a stand by player in the stand.
The pace department also has Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh while in spin department, Ravindra Jadeja is out due to knee injury but in his place Axar Patel has been selected. Hardik Pandya and Deepak Hooda will also be taking care of the middle-order.
The batting department consists of skipper Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav, the same players who had played in the Asia Cup 2022. Two wicket-keepers are Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant. Now, in the reserves, Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi and Deepak Chahar are there.
Before the T20 World Cup, these players will get a chance to prepare for the mega tournament by playing in the upcoming tournament against Australia and South Africa.
