“First VK then BK”- Twitter reacts Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 5-wicket haul helps India thrash Afghanistan by 101 runs

With the help of Virat Kohli’s maiden T20 knock and Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s five-wicket haul, team India defeated Afghanistan by a big margin of 101 on Thursday, September 8 at the Dubai International Stadium. After this match, both the team’s stint at the Asia Cup 2022 ended because they faced two defeats in their previous matches.

Afghanistan had won the toss and opted to bowl first. Kohli’s 61-ball 122 (12 fours and six sixes) helped India post a mammoth 212/2.

Afghanistan’s response started with two quick wickets in the very first over bolwed by Bhuvneshwar. He first trapped Hazratullah on duck with lbw and dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the same manner on golden duck.

Karim Janat also became a victim of Bhuvneshwar’s ball. He scored just two runs off four balls. Bhuvneshwar dismissed Najibullah Zadran on duck too.

Arshdeep Singh then dismissed Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi who scored seven runs off seven balls with a four. Azmatullah Omarzai couldn’t face Bhuvneshwar’s swing and walked back to the pavillion after scoring one run.

Rashid Khan then played nine balls and scored 15 runs with two fours before Deepak Hooda trapped him on his very first ball with a shortest delivery. Mujeeb Ur Rahman played 13 balls to score 18 runs with two fours and a six before Ravichandran Ashwin bowled him out.

Only Ibrahim Zadran played an unbeaten knock of 64 runs off 59 balls including four fours and two sixes. Till the completion of the 20 overs, Afghan batters could score only 111 runs by losing eight wickets and eventually lost the match by 101 runs.
