SRH had won the toss and opted to bat first but they could score only 157 runs in 20 overs following excellent bowlings from Harpreet Brar and Nathan Ellis. Both the bowlers picked up three wickets each. Abhishek Sharma scored the most runs (43 off 32) from their sides.
Punjab Kings responded with openers Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan scoring 23 and 39 respectively. The latter walked back to the dressing room in 12.3 overs when Fazalhaq Farooqi bowled him. He bowled a back of a length around the off. Dhawan was cramped for room there as he looked to guide it towards third man. The ball caught the inside edge and directly had gone to hit the stumps.
Shahrukh Khan and skipper Mayank Agarwal scored 19 and 1 respectively. But soon, it was Liam Livingstone who’s unbeaten 49 off 7 with 2 fours and 5 powerful sixes helped Punjab win this match by 5 wickets. Liam Livingstone finished IPL 2022 with 400+ runs and 180+ strike rate.
