Pakistan’s revenge by five-wickets didn’t came so easily against India as the match lasted till the last over and Babar Azam’s Men in Green successfuly chased the target of 182 on Sunday, September 4 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
Pakistan had won the toss and opted to bowl first. Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul started well but it was Virat Kohli who kept India’s innings stable by standing at the crease till the penultimate over. He was the top scorer with 60 runs off 44 balls.
Pakistan also started to play aggressively with openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam; although Azam’s innings was short lived as Ravi Bishnoi ball made Azam flick it only to give a catch to Rohit Sharma.
Fakhar Zaman scored only 15 runs off 18 balls with two fours. But all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz walked out to bat to the surprise of the Indian team. He played a fiery knock of 42 runs of 20 balls with six fours and two sixes at an impressive strike rate of 210. But in the 16th over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar trapped him with a slightly shorter ball outside off. Nawaz looked to smash it but didn’t get the power right. The ball went high up in the air and Deepak Hooda settled it at long off.
But Pakistan received its massive blow when they lost their opener Mohammad Rizwan. His wicket completely turned the table and what looked as a one-sided match, headed towards a nail-biting ones.
In the last ball of the 17th over, Hardik Pandya was bowling and his delivery was fuller around off. Rizwan looked to loft it but didn’t get the power right. The ball went high up in the air towards long off and Suryakumar Yadav caught it easily.
Arshdeep Singh dropped a crucial catch and that turned the table completely. But his last over bowling did able to restrict Pakistan but when two runs were needed in two balls, the Men in Green completed it by running and won the match by five wickets.
