Pakistan’s brutal bowling bowled out Hong Kong for just 38 runs in 10.4 overs. This was the knock out match played on Friday, September 2 at the Sharjah Stadium in UAE.
Hong Kong captain Nizakat Khan had won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mohammad Rizwan ‘s 78* and Khushdil Shah’s quick 35 runs off 15 balls helped Pakistan post 193/2.
In response, Hong Kong lost quick wickets. No batters could even reach a double-digit score. Naseem Shah with the new ball proved dangerous again when he dismissed first Nizakat Khan in the third over. Nizakat Khan was the high-scorer with his nine-run knock off 13 balls with a fours. Nizakat tried to play the cover drive but his weight was on the back foot and he opened the face of his bat just as he hit the ball. Because of this, he couldn’t generate the power ad the ball went off the bottom part and looped up in the air towards covers. Asif Ali there took some steps back and grabbed it safely.
Then Naseem dismissed Babar Hayat on duck in the same over. He bolwed that one on good length and aimed for the top of the off pole. Hayat took to swing across the line but missed the ball as it went on to clip the stumps. Naseem celebrated and the dangerous Hayat made a long walk to the dressing room.
Shahnawaz Dahani dismissed Yasim Murtaza on two runs while Mohammad Nawaz dismissed Kinchit Shah (six runs off 10 balls). Kinchit Shah was the second high scorer for Hong Kong. Nawaz tossed the ball up on middle and Kinchit went for the big sweep shot. But he missed and got rapped on the pads. Nawaz made a big appeal and the umpire raised his finger. Kinchit went for review and UltraEdge showed no bat involved while Batt Tracking rolled and it showed that it’s umpire’s call. So Kinchit went back too soon.
Shadab Khan picked four wickets while Nawaz scalped three wickets. Naseem had two wickets and Dahani dismissed one batter.
With this win, Pakistan got their green card to the Super 4 stage where the Men in Blue will again square off against Rohit Sharma’s Men in Blue on Sunday, September 4. In their previous encounter, India had won by five wickets.
